The Story

Public approval trains the soul like a stage trains an actor. We tailor the words, the posts, even the faith, until the room claps. Then the room empties and the high collapses. The heart issue is not that encouragement is wrong. It is that we have made human applause the audience that gets to decide whether we are secure. People-pleasing can wear church clothes. It can look like kindness while it quietly refuses to serve Christ when Christ would cost us reputation.

Paul asks the piercing question: am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men — you are serving the Lord Christ. Treasure relocates the heart. If your treasure is the crowd, your heart will run there every time. If you have been living for the next verdict from people, confess it as idolatry, not as personality. Step off the need to be known. Obey the plain word in front of you when nobody is watching. Seek the Father’s smile more than the room’s noise — and let freedom be the byproduct of a smaller audience, not a new performance for a different crowd.
