Some people feel completely defined by what is wrong with them. An addiction, a diagnosis, a past, a reputation. They have been labeled so long that they cannot imagine being anyone else. The man in the region of the Gerasenes lived among the tombs, cut himself with stones, and broke every chain people used on him. When Jesus asked his name, he answered Legion, because many demons possessed him. He had lost even his own name.
Jesus did not negotiate with the darkness. With a word He set the man free, and the townspeople found him sitting, clothed, and in his right mind. That is what grace does. It is not self-improvement but rescue by Someone stronger. Then something surprising happened. The man begged to go with Jesus, and Jesus said no. He sent him home to tell his friends how much the Lord had done for him and how He had mercy on him. His story became his mission. Paul says that anyone in Christ is a new creation. The old has passed away. If you feel trapped by a label, Jesus has authority over whatever holds you. And once He frees you, the people who knew the old you are often the first ones He wants to hear what He has done.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I was a man of a thousand names
Bound in the dark and the heavy chains
A million voices inside my head
Living my life among the dead
The world was a static and deafening roar
Until the Master stepped on the shore
He spoke to the chaos, He spoke to the fear
And suddenly all of the ghosts disappear!
[Chorus]
I’m running now, I’m running fast!
The chains of the world are in the past
I’ve got a story I have to tell
About the Master who made me well!
I’m crossing the valley and climbing the hill
To tell every city He’s living still!
Yeah, I’m running now, I’m running fast!
[Verse 2]
I used to be someone they’d look at and flee
Now I’m the one that the people should see
Not for my power and not for my pride
But the Light of the Savior I’m carrying inside
I begged to go with Him, I sat at His feet
But He sent me back to the dust of the street
"Go find your people, go find your friends
Tell 'em the story where the mercy begins!"
[Bridge]
They knew me in the tombs, they knew me in the caves
Now they’re gonna know the God who saves!
From the city gates to the edge of the sea
I’m Legion no more and I’m finally free!
One man changed! A world to go!
Open up the windows, let the whole world know!
[Chorus]
I’m running now, I’m running fast!
The chains of the world are in the past
I’ve got a story I have to tell
About the Master who made me well!
I’m crossing the valley and climbing the hill
To tell every city He’s living still!
Yeah, I’m running now, I’m running fast!
[Outro]
Legion no more.
Yeah, I’m telling the world what He’s done for me.
Everywhere I go.
