Song of Victory

Track 11 • 3:42
Art for Song of Victory

The Story

Many people think of Christianity mainly as a set of rules or a source of comfort. Easter becomes a holiday, and the resurrection a nice idea about hope. But if Jesus did not rise, Paul says our faith is useless. If He did rise, everything changes. Death is no longer the final word, and the debt that stood between us and God has actually been paid.

Hebrews explains what happened at the cross in temple language. In the old system, the high priest entered the Most Holy Place once a year with the blood of animals, and he had to do it again and again. Jesus entered the true holy place once for all, with His own blood, and secured an eternal redemption. Then the women came to the tomb and heard the angel say He was not there. He had risen, as He said. The resurrection is God’s public declaration that the payment was accepted. That is why Christians sing. Victory is not something we achieve by trying harder. It is something God gives us through our Lord Jesus Christ. If you have treated Easter as a tradition, look again. The tomb is empty, the work is finished, and the risen King invites you to share His victory.

Lyrics

[Verse 1] For ages we stood in the outer court With a barrier built by our sin The shadows were long and the breath was short For no one could enter within But the High Priest came with a different plan Not with the blood of a goat He carried the scars of the Son of Man Beneath a seamless coat! [Chorus] The Stone is rolled! The Day is won! The Grave is cold! The Work is done! Death is dead! The King is free! Shout the song of Victory! HE’S ALIVE! HE’S ALIVE! [Verse 2] He walked through the curtain of death and night To the Mercy Seat made of gold He flooded the Temple with holy light As the story of grace was told The rejected Stone is the Corner now The Foundation is laid in His name The heavens and earth are beginning to bow To the King with the crown of flame! [Chorus] The Stone is rolled! The Day is won! The Grave is cold! The Work is done! Death is dead! The King is free! Shout the song of Victory! HE’S ALIVE! HE’S ALIVE! [Bridge] Every chain... (BROKEN!) Every debt... (PAID!) Every soul... (FREED!) In the light... (STAY!) THE TOMB IS A GARDEN! THE ROCK HAS BEEN ROLLED! THE LION IS ROARING! THE PROPHETS FORETOLD! [Chorus] The Stone is rolled! The Day is won! The Grave is cold! The Work is done! Death is dead! The King is free! Shout the song of Victory! HE’S ALIVE! HE’S ALIVE! [Outro] He’s alive... He’s alive... The Work is done!
