Worth The Cost

Track 6 • 4:07
Art for Worth The Cost

The Story

We all have things we quietly hold back from God. Savings, reputation, a relationship, our plans for the future. We are willing to give Him some, but not the part that feels like security. To the watching world, and often to our own hearts, giving everything to Jesus looks reckless. Underneath is a question about value: is He really worth more than what we would lose?

A few days before the cross, a woman came to Jesus at a dinner in Bethany and poured a jar of very costly ointment on His head. Some at the table were angry and called it waste. Jesus defended her and said she had done a beautiful thing, preparing His body for burial. She understood something they did not. He was about to give everything for her. Paul, who had lost status, career, and comfort, said he counted it all as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ. This is not a call to prove devotion by sacrifice. It is what happens when someone sees how much Jesus has given. The cross shows His worth and His love together. Ask Him to show you what you are holding back, and trust that losing it for Him is gain.

Associated Scripture

Mark 14:6 (ESV): "But Jesus said, ‘Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.’"

Philippians 3:8 (ESV): "Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ"

Lyrics

[Verse 1] I brought the treasure that I saved for years Mixed with the salt of a thousand tears The world calls it waste, they call it a loss But I see the shadow, I see the cross So I break the seal and I let it pour I won’t keep a drop for myself anymore. [Chorus] You are worth the cost! You are worth it all! At Your feet is the only place to fall! Every treasure, every crown Is a hollow gift until I lay it down You are worth the cost! You are worth it all! [Verse 2] The room is filled with a sweet perfume A holy light in a heavy room They whisper of silver, they whisper of greed But You are the only thing that I need The hands that will bleed are the hands I kiss There is no higher honor than this. [Chorus] You are worth the cost! You are worth it all! At Your feet is the only place to fall! Every treasure, every crown Is a hollow gift until I lay it down You are worth the cost! You are worth it all! [Bridge] It’s not a waste if it’s given to You It’s not a loss if I’m starting anew Take my best, take my breath, take my soul [Crescendo] YOU ARE THE PRIZE! YOU ARE THE GOAL! [Chorus] You are worth the cost! You are worth it all! At Your feet is the only place to fall! Every treasure, every crown Is a hollow gift until I lay it down You are worth the cost! You are worth it all! [Outro] Broken for You... Poured out for You... You are worth it all.
