The Story

Surface religion can say “I trust God” while the real decisions still lean on a private forecast. We keep a backup plan, a second opinion, and a quiet veto in case His way looks inefficient. The heart issue is not that understanding is evil. It is that we treat our understanding as safer than the Father. Trust becomes a slogan for Sundays, and self-reliance becomes the operating system for Monday.

Proverbs will not let that split stand. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him — not only in the easy ones — and He will make straight your paths. Straight does not always mean pleasant or quick. It means directed by Him. His thoughts are not ours; His ways are higher. That is not a threat. It is mercy for people who would shrink the world to what they can already explain. If you have been offering God a partial surrender while you keep the steering wheel, confess that as unbelief, not as caution. Ask Him to take the want as well as the words. Then take the next step He has already made plain, even when your understanding is still arguing.
