"Everything happens for a reason" has become a way to skip people who are actually hurting. We say it so we do not have to sit in the trouble with them, or with ourselves. The trouble is real. Jesus did not deny it. He told His friends plainly: in the world you will have tribulation. Then He gave them a reason to take heart that was not a mood. He has overcome the world.
Romans 8 is just as careful. For those who love God and are called according to His purpose, He works all things together for good. The next line tells you what that good is: conformity to the image of His Son, not a guarantee that the bill, the body, or the relationship will resolve the way you sketched it. The idol here is control dressed up as faith — needing the outcome in hand before you will trust the Lord who already holds it.
Take heart because Christ has overcome, not because you can see the ending. The people in Romans 8 love God because they are called, not because love is the fee that makes Him kind. He is not wasting what hurts. He is shaping a people who look like His Son, and He does not lose the ones He called.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Alarm goes off, snooze it twice, here we go again
Cold coffee in a cracked mug, counting down from ten
Keys buried somewhere in the laundry on the floor
Running down the front steps, halfway out the door
Late before I even turn the key to go
Eating burnt toast, static on the car radio
[Pre-Chorus]
I might trip, I might bend
Losing track of the deep end
Pull a breath in my chest
Letting go of all the unrest
[Chorus]
Hey, I'm gonna be alright!
Dancing through the mess in the morning light
Got mud on my shoes, but I got peace inside
Someone's Hands were keeping time last night
Yeah, I'm gonna be alright!
Yeah, I'm gonna be alright!
[Verse 2]
Overtime again under buzzing yellow lights
Greasy lunch receipt stuffed into my coat
Faking half a laugh when the supervisor checks
While the second hand is barely crawling on the wall
Bumper-to-bumper crawl in the pouring rain
Stranger waves me in and eases up the strain
[Pre-Chorus]
I might trip, I might bend
Losing track of the deep end
Pull a breath in my chest
Letting go of all the unrest
[Chorus]
Hey, I'm gonna be alright!
Dancing through the mess in the morning light
Got mud on my shoes, but I got peace inside
Hands I cannot see were keeping time last night
Yeah, I'm gonna be alright!
[Bridge]
Pavement's cold through these worn-out soles
Hazard lights blinking by a telephone pole
A quiet voice knocking through the noisy grind:
Hands on the wheel, but the road ain't mine
[Chorus]
Hey, I'm gonna be alright!
Dancing through the mess in the morning light
Got mud on my shoes, but I got peace inside
Hands I cannot see were keeping time last night
Yeah, I'm gonna be alright!
[Outro]
Through the siren hum and the city roar
Someone's gently knocking at the kitchen door
Calling out a name in the morning grey-
And crazy as it sounds, God is calling my name.
Yeah, you're calling even me...
Gonna be alright.
