Proverbs is one of the most practical books ever written. It talks about money, work, friendships, anger, sex, speech, parenting, and old age. Its sayings were gathered over generations. Many come from Solomon, but the book also includes words of the wise, the sayings of Agur, and the teaching Lemuel received from his mother. It speaks to the young person choosing friends, the parent at the kitchen table, and the grandparent looking back. Its advice still works because human hearts have not changed.
But Proverbs is not a self-help manual. Its foundation is stated plainly at the start: the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Wisdom begins with God, not with technique. That is a problem, because none of us lives these sayings consistently. We know better and still choose foolishly. Here the New Testament gives the answer Proverbs points toward. Paul calls Christ the wisdom of God, and says all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him. Jesus lived every line of this book perfectly, and then died for people who had not. Through Him we receive forgiveness, and with it a new heart that begins to love wisdom. So read Proverbs slowly, a chapter a day, and let it lead you to the One who is wisdom itself.

[Verse 1]
Written in the dust of three thousand years ago
Simple words of wisdom for the paths we walk below
Not just ancient poetry or rules upon a scroll
It’s a map for how you live, a compass for your soul
Before the screens, before the noise, before the daily race
People wrestled with the heart, the tongue, and saving face.
[Verse 2]
It asks you who you listen to when everyone is loud
Warns against the sudden rush of following the crowd
Watch the words you type and send, because a tongue can spark a fire
A gentle answer calms the storm, but anger feeds the pyre
Guard your heart with everything, watch the steps you take
Small decisions in the dark decide the life you make.
[Chorus]
Truth doesn’t fade with the turning of the page
God’s wisdom speaks across every single age
For the rich, for the poor, for the broken and the strong
A steady light to show us where we belong
Before the world began, this design was set in stone:
Live in truth and kindness, and you’ll never walk alone.
[Verse 3]
It speaks on getting rich too fast and chasing empty praise
Says honest work and patience bring a peace that truly stays
Pride will set a trap before you even see the fall
And humility will lift you up when you surrender all
Choose your circle wisely—walk with fools and feel the pain
Walk with people seeking truth and harvest what you gain.
[Bridge]
Empires rise, and empires turn to sand
Fashions fade, and trends slip through our hands
But the fear of the Lord is where all wisdom starts
The architect of life still speaks to human hearts!
No matter where you’re from, no matter what you know
The seeds you plant in secret are the ones that always grow!
[Outro]
Listen closely to the call...
Wisdom standing in the square...
Trust the Lord with all your heart.
