Solomon's Wisdom Couldn't

Track 6 • 3:37
Art for Solomon's Wisdom Couldn't

The Story

Solomon asked God for wisdom, and God gave it in abundance. He wrote proverbs, settled hard cases, and drew rulers from the ends of the earth to hear him. Yet the same man let his heart drift after other gods in his old age. Knowledge was never Solomon's problem. His heart was. That is a sobering mirror for the rest of us. We can know the right road, teach it, even sing about it, and still quietly arrange our lives around ourselves.

The real battle of the Christian life is over who rules the heart, and more information alone never wins it. What changes us is a Person. Jesus pointed to Himself as something greater than Solomon, and Scripture says Christ Himself has become our wisdom. He doesn't just hand us better advice. He laid down His life to rescue people who knew better and chose worse anyway. If you see your own wandering in Solomon's story, don't despair and don't try harder on your own. Confess it, and ask Him to rule where you have ruled. He delights to win back the very heart that strayed.

Suno Style Prompt: Reflective synth-pop with a steady midtempo pulse, warm analog bass and pads, crisp restrained electronic drums, and a repeating minor-key synth figure, Build from intimate, close-miked baritone verses into a broad, communal worship chorus; add subtle guitar texture and low string support, then strip back for a vulnerable bridge before a hopeful final chorus, Polished but restrained production, solemn and urgent turning toward hope

Lyrics

[Verse 1] I asked for wisdom, learned to weigh each word, Built a throne of answers no one could disturb; I knew the names of every distant shore, But kept You knocking at my own heart's door. [Pre-Chorus] I watched my careful compass turn Toward everything I called my own; The more I trusted what I'd earned, The less I knew the way back home. [Chorus] Solomon's wisdom couldn't save me When I made my own heart king; I could see the road before me, Still I chose the lesser thing. Lord, turn my eyes from me to You, Take the throne and make me new. [Verse 2] I built my life with gifts I didn't make, Then called the harvest mine, and mine to take; I chased the praise that vanished by the dawn, And wondered why the peace I had was gone. [Pre-Chorus] The mind can name the right and wrong While pride keeps walking past the sign; I knew the words of wisdom's song But never bent my will to Thine. [Bridge] Not by my insight, not by my strength, Not by the plans I held so tight; You meet me here beneath the ruins And call me back into Your light. Teach me to seek You, not Your gifts, To want the Giver, not the throne; A greater King than Solomon Has made my wandering heart His own. [Final Chorus] Solomon's wisdom couldn't save me When I made my own heart king; But Your mercy came and found me Clinging to the lesser thing. Lord, keep my eyes fixed on You, Take the throne and make me new. [Outro] I lay it down, I turn to You, Take the throne and make me new.
