A lot of modern praise is transactional, even if we would never say so. We sing when things are working. We go quiet when they are not. Without noticing, worship becomes a way to keep God pleased so He keeps the blessings coming, or a feeling we chase on Sunday morning. When the feeling fades or the blessing is delayed, praise feels dishonest, so we stop. The heart issue is that we have made praise about us: our mood, our results, our deal with God.
Scripture roots praise in who God is. The elders in Revelation call Him worthy because He created all things and holds them in being. The psalmist says His greatness cannot be searched out. Praise is not payment, and it is not a performance. It is telling the truth about God out loud. And the truth is not only that He is great but that He is good to sinners. The Creator stepped into His creation in Jesus, lived the life of perfect worship we never offer, and died for people who praised everything but Him. Through Christ, our clumsy praise is welcome. So praise Him on bad days too. Not to change your circumstances, but because He is still worthy, and saying so begins to change you.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
He spoke the light into the dark of night
He set the sun to shining bright
He carved the valleys and raised the peaks
The King of Glory is the One who speaks
He gave us a heart that beats to praise
The Master Architect of all our days
[Pre-Chorus]
There's a thousand reasons, maybe more
To jump up off this floor
To lift our hands and reach the sky
To the only One who is lifted high!
[Chorus]
He is worthy! Worthy of it all!
From the rising sun 'til the shadows fall
He is holy, faithful, and true
Look at all the things that our God can do!
Every voice together, every heart awake
Praising the Name so the heavens shake
Oh, He deserves all our praise!
[Verse 2]
He is the Shepherd when we're prone to stray
The steady lamp that lights the narrow way
He is the Father to the ones alone
The solid Rock and the Cornerstone
He gives us mercy that is fresh and new
It is amazing what He'll pull us through
[Pre-Chorus]
There's a thousand reasons, maybe more
To jump up off this floor
To lift our hands and reach the sky
To the only One who is lifted high!
[Chorus]
He is worthy! Worthy of it all!
From the rising sun 'til the shadows fall
He is holy, faithful, and true
Look at all the things that our God can do!
Every voice together, every heart awake
Praising the Name so the heavens shake
Oh, He deserves all our praise!
[Bridge]
Because He's good! (We praise Him!)
Because He's kind! (We praise Him!)
The greatest love that we'll ever find!
Because He's just! (We praise Him!)
Because He's here! (We praise Him!)
The perfect love that casts out fear!
He's worthy! He's worthy!
[Chorus]
He is worthy! Worthy of it all!
From the rising sun 'til the shadows fall
He is holy, faithful, and true
Look at all the things that our God can do!
Every voice together, every heart awake
Praising the Name so the heavens shake
Oh, He deserves all our praise!
[Outro]
He deserves it all
Every breath we breathe
He deserves it all
Hallelujah, Amen!
