Most of us keep a private list. It holds what we have said, done, and loved that we know was wrong. Some try to bury it, and others try to outweigh it with good days. God is more honest than either. He says the problem is not a few bad choices but a heart that has been turned away from Him from the start. That is hard news, until you see what He does with people like us. He does not pretend the wrongs never happened. He sent Jesus, who lived the life we never lived and died in our place, so that every debt against us was canceled at the cross. And He does more than clear us. He makes us clean, gives us a new identity, sets us apart as His own, and calls us His holy people. That is what the Bible means when it calls ordinary believers holy: not the impressive, but the forgiven. If you have never trusted Jesus, turn to Him, and that welcome is yours today.
Many new believers are caught off guard by what comes next. Life does not always get easier after you come to Christ. Sometimes it gets harder. A loss comes, pressure builds, something you relied on is taken away, and a quiet fear suggests that God has changed His mind about you. He has not. For His children, hardship is never a sentence handed down, because Jesus already took the judgment. What remains is a Father's patient work, the way a craftsman purifies precious metal, removing what does not belong while treasuring what He is making. He never takes His eyes off the work, and He does not waste a moment of our pain. He does it for His own name's sake, so that when the work is done, everyone can see whose work it is. That frees us from proving ourselves in the hard season. We can bring Him our fear, keep trusting, and expect Him to finish what He started. The grace that welcomed you will not let you go.
1 Corinthians 6:11 (ESV): "And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."
Colossians 2:13-14 (ESV): "And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross."
