A lot of people want forgiveness as a freeze frame. They want the guilt lifted and the habits left alone. That is cheap grace: Christ as a chaplain for the old life, not a Lord who means to make you like Himself. Comfort will always vote to stay unfinished. The Spirit will not cast that vote with it.
Paul says we are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another as we behold the Lord. This is not a self-improvement plan with a Bible on the nightstand. It is God’s work, and it is also your repentance. Titus says the grace of God has appeared, training us to renounce ungodliness and to live sober, upright lives while we wait for Christ’s appearing. Grace trains. It does not sedate. The One who began a good work will bring it to completion, which means He loves you too much to cosign the sin you have made peace with.
Do not confuse His patience with permission. Name the pattern you keep defending. Ask Him to change what you cannot sand down yourself. Beholding Christ is how He does it — Word, prayer, obedience, the church — not a private promise to try harder while you hide the same compromise.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I kept my old keys in a chipped blue bowl
Same little routes, same careful soul
You met me right where the porch light beams
A joyful whisper, bursting through the seams
[Pre-Chorus]
You never rushed, you just stayed near
Made room for the truth, chasing out all fear
[Chorus]
Lord, you won't let me stay the same
You call me higher and you shout my name
Lift my joyful hands toward a brand new day
Lord, you won't let me stay the same
[Verse 2]
I had a drawer full of almost-starts
Folded up plans from a cautious heart
You pulled one out, said, "Try once more"
Now there's fresh sawdust by the kitchen door
[Pre-Chorus]
I thought change meant losing what was true
You showed me how mercy makes all things new
[Chorus]
Lord, you won't let me stay the same
You call me higher and you shout my name
Lift my joyful hands toward a brand new day
Lord, you won't let me stay the same
[Bridge]
If I should stumble, your laughter guides me fast
If I'm afraid, your sunshine's built to last
Every small yes is a window thrown wide
I'm dancing forward with you by my side
[Chorus]
Lord, you won't let me stay the same
You plant your courage where you spoke my name
Lift my joyful hands toward a brand new day
Lord, you won't let me stay the same
Lord, you won't let me stay the same
[Outro]
The blue bowl's still there, but I'm headed out
With a soaring heart and no room for doubt
